Punctual for my trip to Sharm El Sheikh by the red sea, BS Kinetics accomplished the new underwater housing “Lut” for the Canon EOS 6D and kindly provided it to us.
With a special mission by the red sea
Beside colorful corals and fishes I had a special mission: The Suisse luxury-watch brand Blancpain gave a prototype of the X-Fathoms dive watch to WETNOTES, for performing a 90 meter dive with the functions (time-&depth measurement) the watch offers.
The Blancpain X-Fathoms
Depth measurement up to 90 meters and saving of the maximum reached depth, seperated displays for a extraordinary precision of +/- 30 cm in the area of 0-15 m, retrograde display in 5 minute steps for the decompression: The new X Fathoms bristles with world premieres The clockwork, runs with the manufacture calibre 1315, which already showed its skills in the Fifty Fathoms collection. The automatic clockwork has 3 springs housings which ensure a 5-day power reserve and a silicon spiral for magnetic field protection. The impressive housing with a diameter of 55,65 mm is built from satin-finished titanium and is waterproof up to 30 bar. It has a helium valve for saturation dives and an unidirectional bezel.
Diving with Werner Lau Tek in Sharm El Sheik
For my base I choosed Werner Lau Tek in Sharm, the base leader David Armstrong and his employee and Tec-dive-legend Leigh Cunningham supported the preparations and executions on site. We used the Canon EOS 60D and the new Canon EOS 6D each with BS Kinetics housings and Subtronic flashes. For the Canon EOS 6D I also used an INON 45°-viewfinder which impressed me pretty much.
We dived with open system to 99,7 m and accomplished the complete ascent and decompression only by using the concept of the Ratio Deco. David Armstrong calculated the indivdual deco steps „on the fly“ on a level of about 100 m and during the ascent. More details about the dive in the march-issue of „WETNOTES – das Fachmagazin für fortgeschrittene und technische Taucher“ and the international e-magazine „WETNOTES – advanced and technical diving magazine“.
But also the holiday did not come too briefly. The reefs of Tiran are still one of the most beautiful coral gardens worldwide The resident turtles would say the same.
Many thanks to BS Kinetics for providing the Canon EOS 6D housing just in time and for the great support.
